I'm a freelance feature reporter focused on the radical edges of social and cultural change. My reporting has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic, the Baffler, Hell Gate, and many other publications. I also run safety teams at raves and festivals.

Prior to freelancing I was a culture editor at the Village Voice, and before that, a sound editor at Lucasfilm. I live in Brooklyn but grew up in northern California, near where The Birds was filmed.
