I'm a freelance feature reporter focused on the radical edges of social and cultural change. My reporting has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic, New York Magazine, Hell Gate, Buzzfeed and many other publications. I also consult with electronic music event producers on how to make their parties safer, and thus more fun.

Prior to freelancing I was a culture editor at the Village Voice, and before that, a sound editor at Lucasfilm. I live in Brooklyn but grew up in northern California, near where The Birds was filmed.
