By day, I am a freelance feature writer and editor focused on the radical edges of social and cultural change. Previously, I edited culture stories at the Village Voice.

At other times, usually after 10 p.m., I am a nightlife awareness/safer spaces organizer. I was a core member of the awareness team at Nowadays from 2019-2024 and am the co-creator and producer of the awareness programs at Sustain-Release, Return to the Source/No Way Back and Horst Arts & Music Festival. In 2022, I co-developed and facilitated the Horst Music Lab, a four-day workshop on harm reduction, bystander intervention, assault prevention and related skills for the next generation of European nightlife professionals.

Through my awareness work, I created the community events program at Nowadays in 2019 and managed it until 2023, producing over 40 workshops, panels, screenings, trainings and other off-dancefloor gatherings. One of these events, a 2022 literary reading called Writing on Raving, has become an ongoing series spanning three cities, with a 2025 anthology from O/R Books.

I’m always available to consult with music event producers, particularly in electronic music, about creating and implementing harm reduction programs, and to speak on these topics on panels and in the press

I am represented by Allison Devereux at Trellis Literary Management. For anything else, you can email me at zoexbeery @ gmail dot com.
