I am a freelance feature writer and editor focused on the radical edges of economic and cultural change, a contributing writer at Hell Gate, the creator of the community events series at Nowadays , and the co-founder of the reading series Writing on Raving. Previously, I edited culture stories at the Village Voice, and before that, I edited sound at Lucasfilm. I live in Brooklyn but grew up in northern California, near where The Birds was filmed.
In addition to my journalistic work, I am an expert in nightlife awareness/safer spaces. I was an awareness monitor at Nowadays from 2019-2024 and am the co-creator and producer of the festival-wide awareness programs at Sustain-Release, Return to the Source/No Way Back, and Horst Arts & Music Festival. In 2022, I developed and co-facilitated the Horst Music Lab, a four-day workshop on drug harm reduction, bystander intervention, assault prevention, and related skills for the next generation of European nighlife professionals.
I am available to consult with music event producers, particularly in electronic music, about creating and implementing awareness programs, and to speak on these topics on panels and in the press.
